Safa Sheik

Safa graduated from Hunter College with a degree in Biological Sciences and a mini concentration in Music History. Her research interests lie in early adversity and depression.
She spent the summer of 2022 at Vanderbilt working in the Stress and Early Adversity Lab under Dr. Kathryn Humphreys, investigating the changes in cognitive processes across pregnancy. She also worked under in Dr. Allyson Friedman’s lab, studying the neuropathophysiological mechanisms of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder. During summer 2023, she joined Dr. Dylan G. Gee's lab at Yale University to study the role of amygdala-prefrontal cortex functional connectivity in parent-based intervention. Safa plans to apply to MD/PhD programs soon. Furthermore, she wants to explore cognitive functions through the lens of neuroscience. |
