Nature Ferguson is currently a rising senior at Hunter College. His major is in Psychology with a concentration in Physiology and a minor in Biological Sciences.
He has spent the summer at the University of Michigan, in Dr. Michael Sutton's lab. His project focused on investigating the role of a subfamily of enzymes, Lysine methyltransferases 2 (KMT2s), in distinct phases of homeostatic plasticity, utilizing techniques such as Immunocytochemistry and confocal microscopy to evaluate surface levels of the AMPA receptor, GluA1. During the academic year, he is working in Dr. Peter Serrano's lab, evaluating the effectiveness of Brivaracetam (BRV) to reduce Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) induced memory effects in rodent-based models of head injury. Nature plans to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience, investigating synaptic dysfunction in neurodegeneration. |
