Shamauri is a Senior at Hunter College pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience. Currently, he is a part of Dr. Sandeep Prasada's Lab, which deals with the linguistic and conceptual representation within the brain and how these processes are affected by development.
During the Summer of 2021, Shamauri worked in Dr. Steve Chang's Lab at Yale University, studying the underlying neural mechanisms that modulate cooperative behaviors in social animals. As he plans to obtain a Ph.D. in Social Neuroscience, he intends to pursue his research interest in the emergent properties of human social networks and how they are influenced by their individuals' cognitive and neurophysiological states. In addition, his research aims to elucidate how the individual brains that exist within a social group influence the properties that group exhibits as a whole (Government, cultures, clubs, etc.) and how this knowledge can lead to greater social cohesion and reform. |
