|
Emmanuel Makinde, a junior at NYU, is pursuing a B.S. in Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry.
At the NYU Center for Neural Science, he researches de novo protein synthesis in memory consolidation and its potential role in Alzheimer's under Dr. Eric Klann, mentored by Dr. Mauricio Oliveira. Additionally, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he studies the B7-1/P75NTR interaction in microglia and hippocampal and cortical neuron cocultures, guided by Dr. Hrishita Das in Dr. Bruce Carter's lab, to understand its implications for Alzheimer's. Makinde’s research interests range from biochemical interactions and proteomics to neurodegenerative disease, notably, prion disease. Interested in MD/PhD programs, Makinde aspires to study under Dr. Sonia Vallabh and Dr. Eric Minikel’s lab at the Broad Institute to study prion disease. |
