Emma is a senior at NYU majoring in Neural Science with a minor in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Studies.
She joined the Aoki Lab to explore the neurobiological mechanisms underlying vulnerability and resilience to anorexia nervosa using the activity-based anorexia (ABA) mouse model. She has been focusing on the effects of ketogenic diet and ketamine treatment in ABA mice, and examining how these interventions affect GABAergic synapse plasticity in the hippocampus using electron microscopy. She plans to continue investigating neurobiological mechanisms involved in relapse risk and recovery, and to pursue a PhD in neuroscience. |
